Running pastor completes Maasim-Malungon lap


MALUNGON, Sarangani (September 9, 2015) - For the first time, Pastor Ferdie Cabiling (right) savours the Marang, one of Malungon's best fruits,  along with Michael Chiongbian on Monday, September 7. Cabiling aims to raise P1,000 donation for every kilometer he runs. He is doing an average of 50 kilometers per day to raise P2 million to be donated to Real Life Foundation's scholarship program. Malapatan fishermen repatriated from Indonesia


MALAPATAN, Sarangani (August 27, 2015) - After three months of detention in Tahuna, Indonesia, 20 fishermen from Malapatan finally found comfort as they were successfully brought back to their town through the efforts of the Department of Foreign Affairs, Bureau of Immigration, Philippine Navy, Coast Guard and the provincial government of Sarangani. RD Shipyard joins ZOD campaign


MAASIM, Sarangani (August 27, 2015) - Engr. Ike Ferolin and Moresen Asi of RD Shipyard turnover 50 drums, bags of cement and PVC pipes donated by RD Shipyard to Barangay Tinoto on August 15. These materials will be used for the construction of sanitary toilets and septic tanks. This initiative is in line with the provincial goal for Sarangani Province as zero open defecation (ZOD) area by 2016. The campaign is under the JINKEENATION - a province-wide sanitation program by Vice Governor Jinkee Pacquiao in partnership with the World Bank–Water Sanitation Program. Organic agriculture training for teachers

YesPinoy Foundation searching for scholars

ALABEL, Sarangani (August 18, 2015) – Actor Dingdong Dantes has launched Project 888 in Sarangani as part of the search for eight deserving young people within eight months in eight provinces.
 
Sarangani was the second province visited since July by Dantes, founding chairman of YesPinoy Foundation (YPF) and a commissioner of the National Youth Commission.
 
Dantes visited Sarangani on August 8 with Project 888, a project of YPF that aims to fully fund the education of eight deserving youth scholars.
 
YPF is hoping that through the success of Project 888, it would be able to invite more partners for the coming years.
 
Aiming to inspire the young to strive and work for a better Philippines, speakers Homer Nievera, Michael Fua, Joyce Pring and Mark Lozano rendered their lectures which stirred attention from the students.
 
Governor Steve Chiongbian Solon, in his speech, emphasized that each Sarangan youth should be able to finish college.
 
“Our partnership with YesPinoy Foundation paves way to opportunities in the form of scholarships and volunteer trainings,” Solon said.
 
Another program of YPF is the Volunteer Program in which volunteers are tapped for climate action and disaster risk reduction management.
                                              
Meanwhile, everyone in the Capitol gymnasium danced and sang as the provincial government launched its official Sulong Sarangani theme song. The two-minute and 16 second song was composed and arranged by local artist-composer Densho “Champ” Biala.
 
More than 2,000 Sarangan high school students joined the Project 888 launching. YesPinoy is an advocacy championed by Dantes, with the support of his industry associates, friends in government and people exposed in social movements.
 
“We have to give the service back to our community, families and schools. Iyan ang challenge ko sa lahat ng mga kabataan. Gamitin natin ang lahat ng ating natutunan sa pamayanan,” Dantes told the students.
 
Project 888 is the current project of YPF to develop the next generation of leaders in the Philippines. YPF will go the distance in providing better access to education in eight areas within eight months to find eight truly deserving children whose education would be fully funded by the foundation.
