Ancient finds boost educational tourism in Sarangani town


MAITUM, Sarangani (February 20, 2012) - Tourism operations assistant Arnelito Ramirez explains the significance of the 2,000-year old Maitum artifacts to pupils of Malalag Central Elementary School for their HEKASI (Heograpiya Kasaysayan at Sibika) subject. The Maitum Diorama at the Municipal Hall of Maitum, where hundreds of tourists visit every month, has become the hub for educational tourism in the province for its depiction of a glorious past and assemblage of human-shaped pottery unparalleled in Southeast Asia.
