Accessible education data thru Geographic Information System

MALUNGON, Sarangani (July 27, 2012) - In its quest to make education accessible to Sarangan children as a tool for poverty alleviation and economic progress, the Provincial Government of Sarangani and Department of Education - Sarangani Division enter into a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Project SUSDEV Philippines during the MOU-signing Friday, July 27, by (from left, seated) Governor Migs Dominguez, SUSDEV representative Gloria Alicia Veloso and Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Allan Farnazo. This is the first education Geographic Information System (GIS) project for a province in the Philippines. The signing was done during the Management Committee meeting of all principals and district supervisors of Sarangani Division at San Roque National High School. Project SUSDEV Philippines partners with DepEd and the provincial government in its education advocacy by providing assistance in Information and Communication Technologies integrated with GIS. GIS allows the parties to view, understand, question, interpret and visualize data in many ways that reveal relationships, patterns and trends in the form of maps, globe reports and charts which can be used for planning and making decisions as wells as modeling and forecasting.
