Coastal area watched over by Philippine Marines

MAITUM, Sarangani (July 26, 2012) – Lt. Col. Noel Buncab (3rd from left), commanding officer of the Marine Battalion Landing Team (MBLT-7), pays a visit to Mayor Elsie Lucille Perrett on July 23. The two leaders discussed the peace and order situation in the area. Lt. Col. Buncab assured Mayor Perrett of his battalion's commitment to maintain peace and order in Palimbang, Sultan Kudarat. Palimbang is the next town to Maitum going west. Residents of Palimbang buy their food in Maitum. With Buncab are Lt. Col. Jessie Jovete Cerbo (2nd from left) and 1Lt. Victor Donque. Also in photo are Councilors Jess Bascuna and Ruben Balanag. The full force of MBLT-7 arrived in Palimbang on July 20 and established its headquarters at barangay Baknayan, Palimbang. The MBLT-7 officers paid a courtesy call on Mayor Perrett to formally inform her of the presence of the Marines at Coast Watch Maitum and as a courtesy to inform her that the unit will be regularly passing the municipality from time to time on the way to General Santos City and vice versa.
