Malacañang declares Nov. 25 non-working holiday in Sarangani

ALABEL, Sarangani (November 23, 2011) – Malacañang has declared November 25, 2011 a special (non-working) holiday in Sarangani in commemoration of the province’s 19th Foundation Day anniversary and 9th MunaTo Festival on November 24 to 27.

Executive Secretary Paquito Ochoa Jr. signed the proclamation dated November 18 by the authority of President Benigno Aquino III.

Proclamation No. 291 said the declaration “is to give the people of Sarangani the opportunity to celebrate and participate in the occasion.”

Governor Migs Dominguez earlier issued a memorandum enjoining the participation of Capitol employees to “attend, cooperate, and participate” in the whole duration of the festivity as several activities are lined-up this year.

Sarangani Tourism and Investment Promotions Center acting coordinator Larry Asparin said the center is also “counting on the cooperation of the Capitol employees as the host of the celebration.”

Board Member Eleonor Saguiguit said the consideration of the request to declare November 25 as a holiday was to set the festival schedule “to the best dates to our (province’s) advantage.”

Also, Vice President Jejomar Binay will be coming on the same day to grace the occasion. (Beverly C. Paoyon/ SARANGANI INFORMATION OFFICE)
