Former war-torn Sarangani villages get peace centers

 
MAASIM, Sarangani (May 28, 2013) - Payapa at Masaganang Pamayanan (PAMANA) Project turned over three buildings Tuesday, May 28, to Maasim villages which had experienced conflicts before. These are the Lumatil Multi-Purpose Hall with a cost of P2 million, Nomoh Community Peace Center amounting to P500,000 and the P1-million Datu Molod Community Peace Center of barangay Lumatil funded by PAMANA Project under the auspices of the Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process (OPAPP). Tourism-oriented army in Sarangani holds sports fest

MAASIM, Sarangani (July 26, 2012) - Mayor Arturo Lawa, Board Member Nene Saguiguit and Lt. Col. Adolfo Espuelas Jr., commander of 73rd Infantry Battalion, pose with the teams of soldiers during the opening of their sports fest Thursday, July 26. All systems go for power plant in Maasim

MAASIM, Sarangani (June 28, 2012) - Mayor Arturo Lawa (4th from left) with officials of Sarangani Energy Corporation and engineers from Daelim Industrial Corporation Limited flash the thumbs up sign to signal the start of design and engineering work of the 200 megawatt coal-fired power plant at the constructions site in barangay Kamanga in this photo taken June 14. This power plant aims to provide power to Sarangani province, General Santos City and some areas of south and south central Mindanao. Just recently, according to SEC, it just raised its authorized capital stock to P4.25 billion to cover the equity for the construction and operation of the power plant. Maasim village gets water reservoir from Rep. Pacquiao

MAASIM, Sarangani (May 31, 2012) – From left, Vice Governor Steve Chiongbian Solon, Mayor Arturo Lawa, Kabatiol barangay captain Noel Tapan and Vice Mayor Uttoh Salem Cutan release water from the newly-inaugurated P250,000-water reservoir Wednesday, May 30. The fund was requested from Rep. Manny Pacquiao for the construction of water reservoir at Purok 6, Kabatiol. The water reservoir will benefit Puroks 3, 4 and 6 in Kabatiol covering more or less 1,000 households and it is planned to expand its pipeline to the adjacent area of barangay Kablacan. Newly-proclaimed Maasim Mayor Lawa takes oath of office

MAASIM, Sarangani (May 8, 2012) – Newly-proclaimed Maasim Mayor Arturo Lawa takes his oath of office before Judge Ruperto Besinga Jr. at the Maasim Municipal Court after his proclamation as the rightful winner of the 2010 election. With him are his wife and son. Lawa “lost” to Jose Zamorro by a narrow margin due to a PCOS machine which erroneously transmitted results of the test run at Precinct 21 in Kablacan village instead of what Lawa actually received - 136 votes as against only 62 votes by Zamorro - bringing the total votes Lawa garnered to 5,440 as against 5,382 of his chief rival – a margin of 58 votes.
