PWDs join Munato Festival celebration
ALABEL, Sarangani (December 4, 2014) – Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) including children with cerebral palsy join the parade during the opening of the 22nd Foundation Anniversary and 12th Munato Festival of Sarangani Province on November 27. The PWDs showed their active and full support to the provincial leadership. Earlier this month, the Sarangani Provincial Government provided free wheelchairs and other assistive devices and prostheses to the beneficiary-residents of the province with the help of NGO partners namely the Physicians for Peace and Latter Day Saints Charity. MALUNGON, Sarangani (December 4, 2014) - Eighty two kindergarten and Grade I pupils of Luis Casiple Sr. Integrated School in barangay Alkikan receive early Christmas presents from Vice Governor Jinkee Pacquiao. The gifts include a bag with school supplies, slippers candies and food. There was also a feeding program and sharing of Bible stories with the kids on November 26. Dengue alert up in Maitum
MAITUM, Sarangani (December 4, 2014) - A volunteer applies vector control method through the corners to kill mosquito larvae during the bayanihan around barangay Malalag Wednesday, December 3. The community worked together to prevent dengue fever after the Maitum Municipal Health Office (MHO) reported a dramatic increase in cases of the mosquito-borne disease in the past month. The Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council together with the MHO initiated preventive control measures right away, addressing barangay, purok officials and leaders, and the whole community to urge greater effort in preventing the epidemic. Spraying is one method to try to prevent dengue outbreak in the barangay. There were a total of 27 dengue fever cases as of now and were already under control. (Joylyn Ty/MAITUM INFORMATION OFFICE)
