Buntis Walkathon during Nutrition Month celebration

MAITUM, Sarangani (July 5, 2012) - Barangay Wali resident Noemi Boone wins the race as she heads towards the finish line during the Buntis Walkathon in celebration of Nutrition Month Wednesday, July 4. The activity was attended by 92 pregnant women coming from the different barangays of Maitum. This year's theme is "Pagkain ng Gulay Ugaliin, Araw-araw Itong Ihain" which focuses on encouraging Filipinos to increase consumption of vegetables to address micronutrient deficiencies and prevent non-communicable diseases such as cardiovascular disease, cancer and diabetes. The Department of Education partnered with the Department of National Defense and the National Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council to generate the highest level of public awareness on disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation through the emergency drills.
