MALAPATAN, Sarangani (August 14, 2014) - Nene Tusan, a barangay health worker (BHW), thanks Gov. Steve Chiongbian Solon during the oath-taking ceremony of Malapatan BHWs Monday, August 11, at Malapatan gym. According to Tusan, the government has finally recognized the existence of BHWs. Gov. Solon has been vocal that BHWs could never be neglected because of their contribution in the community. This is the first time the provincial government thru the Sulong Sarangani convergence program provides stipend to BHWs in the whole province with P500 monthly incentive per qualified BHW following the Barangay Health Resilience Program duly approved by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan and supported by Cong. Manny Pacquiao and Vice Gov. Jinkee Pacquiao. Aside from honoraria, the provincial government pledged to give equipment and more training programs on first aid and disaster responses to truly capacitate the BHWs.
