Sarangani marks World TB Day


GENERAL SANTOS CITY (April 30, 2014) - Dr. Arvin Alejandro, OIC- provincial health officer and Provincial National Tuberculosis Control Program (NTP) medical coordinator, discusses the provincial status of TB Program before participants of World TB Day forum held at the Sarangani Highlands on April 28. Alejandro said Sarangani Province has a low case detection rate (CDR) and low cure rate (CR) of TB disease with only 59 percent and 70 percent respectively for the 1st quarter of the year 2013. During the activity, strategies were discussed on how to increase the CDR- CR rates for TB disease. The activity, with a theme “Ligtas na Pamilyang Pilipino laban sa TB” was participated in by different sectors including non-government organizations, academe, municipal health officers and provincial officers.
