Network launched for maternal, newborn, and child health

GENERAL SANTOS CITY (August 11, 2014) - Gov. Steve Chiongbian Solon and Kiamba Mayor Raul Martinez join the forging of partnership thru a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the public and private partners in the launching of the Service Delivery Network (SDN) of Sarangani Province for Maternal, Newborn, and Child Health and Nutrition (MNCHN) program on August 8 at Greenleaf Hotel. SDN will ensure that birth deliveries, among others, from Sarangani, will be accommodated by any health facility in Gensan or Sarangani in order to reduce, if not to eliminate, mortality and morbidity among infants and mothers during deliveries. The MOU was released after Gov. Solon issued Executive Order No. 28, series of 2014 establishing SDN in the province following the provision of the Sarangani Provincial MNCHN Ordinance. Public and private partners include the Provincial Health Office (PHO), municipal chief of hospitals, municipal mayors, municipal health officers, administrators in the hospitals in Gensan, Philhealth, Department of Health (DOH), Red Cross, non-government organizations (NGOs), barangay health workers federation, transport association federation, and the Private Sector Mobilization for Family Health Project (PRISM2).
