MAITUM, Sarangani (December 4, 2014) - A volunteer applies vector control method through the corners to kill mosquito larvae during the bayanihan around barangay Malalag Wednesday, December 3. The community worked together to prevent dengue fever after the Maitum Municipal Health Office (MHO) reported a dramatic increase in cases of the mosquito-borne disease in the past month. The Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council together with the MHO initiated preventive control measures right away, addressing barangay, purok officials and leaders, and the whole community to urge greater effort in preventing the epidemic. Spraying is one method to try to prevent dengue outbreak in the barangay. There were a total of 27 dengue fever cases as of now and were already under control. (Joylyn Ty/MAITUM INFORMATION OFFICE)
