Soldier trains Sarangani Big Brother volunteers

MAITUM, Sarangani (April 14, 2012) - PFC Dennies Pusdan of 73rd Infantry Battalion conducts self-discipline training to SBB volunteers Friday, April 13, during the simultaneous SBB volunteers training for MAKIMA (Maasim-Kiamba- Maitum) area at Malalag Central Elementary School campus. “Sarangani Big Brother: Reading is Fun!” is a 15-day, whole-day, remedial reading program that will be implemented next week in partnership with the Alcantara Foundation, the Department of Education, Quality Education for Sarangani Today and Sangguniang Kabataan. Teachers will conduct the remedial reading classes and will be assisted by youth volunteers. The youth volunteers will receive instruction and mentoring from the teachers on proper class management, material development, conducting read-along sessions and other activities that the teacher designs to help the children learn to read and write.
