ALABEL, Sarangani (October 11, 2012) – Governor Migs Dominguez finally signed on Wednesday (October 10) the documents confirming his ownership of a house and lot in the first-ever local government unit-led P80-million housing project in partnership with the Home Development Mutual Fund (HDMF) or Pag-IBIG Fund.
Dominguez’s housing unit take-out and that of provincial administrator Vicente Camacho marked the fourth batch of HDMF turn over to homeowners. At the same time, HDMF issued a P906,422.24 check to the property developer Sarangani Land and Development Corporation (SLDC)as payment for the two units turned-over Wednesday.
Since the first batch of occupants in January, more than P15 million have already been issued by HDMF to SLDC to cover a total of 32 units out of the 180 units planned for construction. As of this time, 85 units are reportedly ready for take-out.
“The Capitol Residences” is said to be the pioneering Public-Private Partnership (PPP) initiated housing project in the country which General Santos City Pag-IBIG branch housing operation assistant department manager Engr. Domingo Cania noted as their pilot PPP housing project.
Dominguez once cited this project to hopefully become a “template” for all other local and national government agencies to replicate thru a “progressive, innovative way of developing.”
Cania said the units cost quite “lower than those housing units developed by private developers.” Each unit has 210 square meters of land area and 39.24 square meters floor area compared to an average of only 90 to 120 square meters in other private-managed subdivisions.
“The Capitol Residences” demonstrates the provincial leaders’ commitment to give its employees affordable but comfortable dwelling pursuant to the provisions of Section 8 of Republic Act (RA) 7279 otherwise known as Urban Development and Housing Act in conjunction with Section 17 of RA 7160 also known as the Local Government Code of 1991.
For his part, Camacho encouraged others to also avail of the medium grade housing program where he described living as “quite comfy.”
The units are being offered to Sarangani provincial employees at socialized packages thru Pag-ibig Fund financing. For more news and updates, please visit the Province of Sarangani . (Beverly C. Paoyon/SARANGANI INFORMATION OFFICE)
