Award-winning research by Sarangani students
ALABEL, Sarangani (June 29, 2012) – Fourth year high school student Angelica Francesca Tumbocon (center) with teacher and coach Shiela Butil (left), both from Alabel National Science High School, show their internationally-acclaimed research to Acting Governor Steve Chiongbian Solon Tuesday, June 26. Their research, “Wild Yam (Dioscorea hispida Dennst) Starch: An Effective Additive in the Production of Biodegradable Plastic”, won a silver medal in the 2012 ISWEEP (International Sustainable World Energy, Engineering, Environment Project Olympiad) held in George Brown Convention Center in Houston, Texas last May 2–7 with 68 participating countries and 44 states in America.
