ALABEL, Sarangani (August 13, 2013) – The Provincial Government of Sarangani is now inviting all civil society organizations (CSOs) composed of people’s organizations, non-government organizations, civic organizations, private sectors, social movement, and business and professional groups to accredit and/or renew their accreditation with the Province.
The Sangguniang Panlalawigan has already released a Notice of Call for Accreditation and Renewal of Accreditation with the Province of Sarangani, stating the basic requirements for the accreditation in view of the Memorandum Circular No. 2013-70 issued by the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG).
The said DILG Memorandum Circular reiterates the provisions of the Local Government Code and its Implementing Rules and Regulations and provides other clarificatory guidelines relative to the accreditation of civil society organizations, and in the selection of their representatives to the local special bodies.
The civil society organizations are given 90 days to accredit with the Province, but they shall be accredited first with the municipality so they can seek representation to the local special bodies.
The Province has four local special bodies namely, the Provincial Development Council (PDC); the Provincial School Board (PSB); the Provincial Peace and Order Council (PPOC); and, the Provincial Health Board (PHB).
It was learned that there were 55 accredited civil society organizations with the Province during the previous year. The selection of representatives to the local special bodies will come from the accredited CSOs.
