ALABEL, Sarangani (October 14, 2013) – A total of P2,570,000 was released on October 11 by the provincial government for the upgrading and rehabilitation of day-care centers all over Sarangani.

The distribution of checks per municipality was the highlight of the Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD) Worker’s 2013 Conference/Assembly held at the provincial gym, participated in by day-care center workers of the province.

Alabel municipality received a check amounting to P450,000; Malapatan with P430,000; Glan with P745,000; Malungon, P420,000; Kiamba, P210,000; and Maitum with P315,000.

Raquel Panal, provincial ECCD officer, said the municipality of Maasim was not included in the distribution of checks during the program since its grant, in the amount of P280,000, was already given to its day care center beneficiaries.

All municipalities have also received various learning materials. The grant was from the Annual Investment Plan (AIP) fund of the provincial government.

Governor Steve Chiongbian Solon, in his message, expressed his gratefulness to the day-care center workers for giving their dedication and taking part in the formative years of the children in Sarangani.

“I congratulate and thank you for your commitment. You play a very important role in educating the children. Being the out-of-home parents, the values that you impart among the innocent kids would be the very foundation of character that would strongly shape their personalities as they grow up and face the challenges in life,” he said.

Solon commits that the government, under his administration and with the help of all officials, will continue to improve the day-care centers in the province.

“Nagapaningkamot mi, kauban ang atong mga opisyal sa probinsya aron madugangan pa ang atong day-care centers,” he asserted.

Meanwhile, the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, through the Committee on Budget and Appropriations, will approve the appropriation for the Gender and Development (GAD) Plan this month. One of the items in the Plan includes the increase of honorarium of the 470 ECCD/day-care center workers in the province amounting to P3,100,000. (Joy R. Sevilla/SARANGANI INFORMATION OFFICE)
