Blessing and turnover of provincial-funded school building for college IPs

MALUNGON, Sarangani (July 12, 2012) - From left, former Board Member Popo Octavio, Mayor Reynaldo Constantino, MSU-Gensan Chancellor Atty. Abdurrahman Canacan, Governor Migs Dominguez, Malandag Barangay Captain Delia Constantino and Board Member Eleanor Saguiguit cut the ribbon to formally turnover the four-classroom school building to Malandag Central Elementary School Thursday, July 12. The school building will serve as temporary classrooms of the Indigenous People scholar-beneficiaries of the special tertiary extension service for IPs, an off-campus scholarship program of Governor Dominguez in partnership with Mindanao State University-Gensan being the service provider for the College of Education; DepEd Sarangani for the class venue; LGU Malungon and barangay Malandag for the administrative and logistic support. Since college classes are held Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays, the classrooms will also be used by elementary pupils on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. The present enrollment of scholars is 118. Fourth year – 31, 3rd year - 30 and 2nd year – 57, all taking up Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education.
