Kiturok village gets tramline for agriculture

MALUNGON, Sarangani (September 20, 2013) - From left, Mayor Reynaldo ‘Bong’ Constantino, Vice Mayor Erwin Asgapo, town Councilor Mariano ‘Jun’ Escalada and an aide gesture inside a newly-installed 800-meter long tramline by the Department of Agriculture Region 12 in Datal Batong. The P2.8-million cable carrier with a loading capacity of 350-500 kilograms approximately traverses over 500 feet toward Sitio Blol, a vegetable-rich district that is adjacently located to Malungon’s farthest Kiturok village in the southern part of the municipality. Constantino said this new system will be of big help to increase the earnings of poor farmers, as it reduces the cost of transportation and post-harvest losses of farm produce that are caused by long distance travel via rugged roads.
