Sarangani union rules regional games

POLOMOLOK, South Cotabato (October 29, 2012) – Sarangani Province Employees Union (SPEU) emerged as over-all champion among 23 competing local government employees unions from South Cotabato, Sarangani and General Santos City in the three-day 7th Public Sector Employees Alliance of Socsksargen(PSEAS) sports festival.
SPEU president Anacleto Saya-ang received the championship trophy plus 12 more trophies for winning different sports competitions during the culmination event at Polomolok sports complex Saturday (October 27).
SPEU ruled the games with a total score of 235 points while
General Santos City Government Employees Association ranked second place with a total score of 232 points. Sultan Kudarat Association of Pubic Employees bagged third place with 167 points.
“All the SPEU officers really gave their full support in supervising the players even during practice up to the end of the game,” Saya-ang said.
The unions competed in basketball (men), kickball (women), volleyball (men and women), bowling (men and women), badminton table tennis and lawn tennis (doubles), while the single events are darts, chess, lawn tennis and word factory.
Citing the theme, “Unity through sports for a stronger PSEAS”, Civil Service 12 regional director Grace Saqueton commended the participants “spending some time not just for work but also for play”.
“I am happy to see unions who are closely working with the management. Unions are really partners with management,” the director said.
Sarangani provincial administrator Vicente Camacho III, who represented Sarangani Governor Migs Dominguez, said “may this event strengthen relationship not only within your association but also as an active supporter of the other groups which share common goals and objectives as yours.”
The sports fest hosted by the municipality of Polomolok was conducted on October 25-27 in time with its 12th Foundation Anniversary.
