MAITUM, Sarangani (April 17, 2013) – Police
personnel led by Chief Inspector Jerone Orville Panganiban release Tuesday,
April 16, a 15-kg. Hawksbill turtle with tag PH0483E and a 17-kg. Green sea
turtle with tag PH04823. The turtles were caught in a fishing net on April 13 in
barangay Old Poblacion. Hundreds of marine turtles have been released in Maitum
over the last eight years. The police have been stepping up their environmental
awareness drive along with their operations against illegal mining, illegal
logging and other forms of criminality in the locality. For more news and
