MAITUM, Sarangani (September 1, 2011) – Residents clean a school building in barangay Kalaong after it was flooded Wednesday night, August 31, when a nearby river overflowed its banks and washed away 200 bags of cement stored in a hall and destroyed the abutment of a newly-repaired bridge. Fourteen families have returned home from an evacuation center when the floodwater receded the following day. Mayor Elsie Perrett has instructed all agencies to help in the restoration of damaged facilities. An estimated 7.5 hectares of corn crops were also damaged.
