MAITUM, Sarangani (March 1, 2013) - Selected high school students from different schools in Maitum mold pots during their pottery enhancement workshop at barangay Kalaneg on February 26. The workshop sponsored by the Department of Trade and Industry was part of the National Arts Month celebrated every February. This year's celebration carried the theme “Ani ng Sining” with its sub theme "Celebrating Icons.” The event conducted various activities which highlighted the different cultural icons of the community, emphasizing their enriching roles in our lives and identity as people and as a country. The workshop has shown importance to the 2000-year old Maitum anthropomorphic burial jars unparalleled in Southeast Asia.
