GENERAL SANTOS CITY (September 30, 2013) – The Provincial Government of Sarangani was awarded as the overall champion during the culmination ceremony of the Annual SarGen Inter-Agency Sportsfest held at the Oval Plaza Gymnasium Monday, September 30.
The sportsfest is the highlight of the 113th Anniversary Celebration of the Philippine Civil Service with the theme Tatak Lingkod-Bayani: Isabuhay, Ipagmalaki, at Ipagbunyi.
This milestone aims to promote, showcase and celebrate heroism in public service, encouraging all public servants to cross the line between being ordinary civil servants to being servant heroes or lingkod bayani.
The sportsfest was managed by the City Government of General Santos in cooperation with the Council of Personnel Officers-SarGen Chapter and was participated in by government employees in SarGen area from September 16 to 27.
Sittiehawa Marohomsalic, head of the Human Resource Management Office of Sarangani Province, said in an interview that teamwork and strong support of the local officials have made Sarangani players win.
“We are so proud of Team Sarangani. Teamwork has been displayed in every game they played and of course we also credit our victory to the strong support of our local officials led by our Governor Steve Chiongbian Solon, Vice Governor Jinkee Pacquiao, and all the board members,” she said.
Sarangani Province was the champion in volleyball men and women division; third runner-up for men in bowling; and, first runner-up in basketball. The games staged for the sportsfest include volleyball (men and women); bowling (men and women); and basketball.
Meanwhile, Vice Mayor Shirlyn Nograles of the City Government of General Santos said that “winning is just secondary, the important thing is how you played the game.” (Joy R. Sevilla/SARANGANI INFORMATION OFFICE)
